Working as part of a small team in the electrode processing department using lathes, cutting machines, small furnaces and some automated equipment to process the electrodes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a well-established company specialising in laser and EPL Flashlamps.

Duties will include


• TIG welding tungsten components on a lathe
• Brazing tungsten components in furnaces
• Laser marking electrodes
• Cutting tungsten rods
• Manually cleaning components with abrasive papers
• Processing electrodes with high vacuum equipment
• Working accurately to drawings, checking and inspecting parts during manufacturing run and following procedures
• Check and Maintain machinery daily
• Carry out stock checks of raw materials
• Communicating with internal customers
• Working to the agreed delivery schedule
• Keep work area clean and tidy

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
• A keen eye for detail
• An analytical mind-set
• Excellent communication skills
• Keen to learn and take on responsibilities and willing to cross train in other departments
• Previous CNC experience would be an advantage but training will be given

Finishing Department Operator

Working as part of a small team in the Finishing department using lathes, small gas torches, cutting and crimping machines, grinding wheels, plating bath and small tools to complete the process on the lamps. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a well-established company specialising in laser and EPL Flashlamps.

Duties will include


• Brazing lead wires to the lamps with silver and soft solder and a small gas torch
• RF Brazing connectors to lamps
• Cutting tungsten wires on the cutting machine
• Manually cleaning components with abrasive and buffing wheels
• Nickel plating using the plating bath
• Cutting and cleaning tungsten wires
• Using some automated equipment
• Working accurately to drawings, checking and inspecting parts during manufacturing run and following procedures
• Responsible for own work, checking documentation before starting and signing off works orders after completion
• Check and maintain machinery daily
• Working to minimise waste and maximise productivity and efficiency
• Working to the agreed delivery schedule
• Communicating with internal customers
• Carry out stock checks of raw materials
• General department duties and to keep area clean, tidy and presentable

Team Leader

Our Client, based in Ely is a well established international organisation specializing in the photonics technologies industry.  For this role, you will be one of a group of Team Leaders working within the production team of the Business Unit responsible for the design and manufacture of a wide range of high precision motion control mechanical stages and associated control electronics. 

As Team Leader you will be responsible for over-seeing your assembly team and be up to speed on exactly what the assembly team are doing and the shift WIP at any time.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the assembly team are working to relevant Health & Safety standards including PPE requirements and safe working practices
  • Deal with all staff issues as they happen
  • Participate in daily production meetings to discuss resource plan and any potential issues
  • Implement daily production plan provided by the planning team
  • Daily communication with all team members to assess possible throughput both by the individual assembler and team wide.
  • Ensure any production flow issues are quickly identified and escalated to the Production Manager for same day fix
  • Identify any issues that arise from the daily plan and ensure solutions are put in place for the next shift and are communicated effectively
  • Ensure all shift SOP changes are added to the SharePoint system before the end of the shift
  • Ensure that all rejected parts are out of the production areas by the end of the shift
  • Ensure that any short kits are returned to stores by the end of the shift
  • Monitor 5S activities to ensure that they are happening and that all tools and jigs are in the correct place

Desirable skills and knowledge:

Previous experience at supervisory/team leader level

Knowledge of Mechanical Manufacturing assembly techniques with the ability to interpret mechanical / engineering and assembly drawings

A positive attitude with a desire for continuous improvement

A flexible approach to work requests – prepared to go the extra mile to get the job done

Experience with windows including PC based firmware programming equipment/techniques

  • Liaise with couriers and customers whilst providing a high level of customer service;
  • Assist with checking core returns;
  • Provide holiday cover within the department as and when required.

Ideally the successful candidate for the role will:

The main function of the role is to ensure the smooth running of the stores department.  Although this will be the successful candidate’s main priority, absolute flexibility to undertake tasks outside of the stores department is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and unloading deliveries of varying sizes using forklifts.
  • Driving a company vehicle of up to 7.5 tonnes for the purpose of transferring stock between 2 sites.
  • Accurate processing of delivery notes and booking in of goods to the ERP system.
  • Accurately processing paperwork for outgoing shipments, including the printing of delivery notes and the picking of items for shipping
  • Ensuring that goods are labelled accurately and put away promptly and into the correct locations.

Required Knowledge & Skills:
