Our client, a world class provider of subsea technologies and services to the global offshore energy industry are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their busy team based in Littleport, just outside Ely, Cambridgeshire. 

The Role

Working within the Maintenance department which is responsible for ensuring all work undertaken maintains an acceptable level of quality ensuring manufacturing efficiency is maintained.  You will be responsible for ensuring all machinery and plant are maintained in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule as well as the covering of breakdowns and modifications to equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

Planned preventative maintenance

Mechanical and electrical breakdown repairs

General Engineering practice

Health and safety and environmental control

Key Attributes

Ability to investigate, analyse and problem solve complex engineering issues

Excellent timekeeping and attendance

good work ethic and attitude with a drive to succeed

Requirements

Possess essential PLC skills to fault finding and diagnostics level

Ability to implement new processes and run a preventative planned maintenance system.

Experience of the maintenance and repair of both electrical and mechanical machines and systems and general workshop equipment including lathes, drills and welding equipment. 

Qualifications

Electrical / mechanical engineering qualification to HNC/HND level

17th Edition wiring regulations

Recognised qualification for welding & fabrication

This position is on a 24/4 rotating shift pattern of days and nights Monday to Thursday.

The successful applicant will have experience taking product development from inception all the through to full scale production.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • To design and realise cost-effective mechanical mechanisms for precision motion control and vibration isolation systems
  • To develop product specifications with colleagues, often including those from other parts of the global business
  • Producing details of specifications and outline designs
  • To develop, assemble, test and evaluate theoretical designs
  • To discuss and solve complex problems with team members, sub-contractors, suppliers and manufacturing departments
  • Making or recommending modifications to prototypes following test results
  • To make sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating conditions
  • Planning and overseeing the product development.
  • Considering implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints
  • Working with other professionals, within and outside the engineering team

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven hands on experience of product design.
  • A high level of technical knowledge and the ability to apply this to practical problems
  • The ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • An understanding of machinery directive safety legislation
  • A creative ability with attention to detail
  • Experience with 3D and 2D modelling software
  • Experience of producing high quality manufacturing drawings containing full tolerance and detailed finishing specifications
